Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette

Urban Decay are known for their amazing Naked palettes, which are some of my go to palettes for everyday wearable looks for clients and also myself, but when browsing the UD counter at my local department store I came across this.

The Vice 2 palette was priced around £40.00, for a palette housing 20 eye-shadows I thought this was a reasonable price. I was instantly drawn in by the gorgeous girly packaging, the purple tortoise shell effect and the diamanté/gemstone logo (being a bit of a magpie anything that sparkles draws me in). The one thing that put me off purchasing this palette was the fact all apart from four colours were glitters, I used to be strictly matte and was too scared to attempt the glitter just because of all the horror stories you hear.

This palette has to now be my favourite glitter palette, I originally only brought it for one colour which was Shellshock, but have now fallen in love with every single one of them.
Its the perfect night out/party palette, its a great way to glam up a simple smokey eye.
The colour pigmentation its incredible! I expected with it being a glitter that it could have the potential to be quite transparent or chalky, but when I very first swatched it I was amazed, they are vibrant and bold and can definitely make a statement.

First impressions:

The first look I created was a black and silver smokey eye, I used some Mac shadows to begin with but finished it off with Lovesick and Shellshock, I used the Urban Decay Primer Potion and my shadow did not move the whole night which was really impressive! Usually with glitters they will either fade within a hour, create fallout or smudge around your eyes, but when I got in it looked like I had just done my make-up a hour ago.

I am always weary when it comes to purchasing a palette, especially on of this price and that fact its not really an everyday palette, it took me a long time to make the decision to buy this, but in the end I got it on a whim and hoped for the best, its safe to say I have no regrets and would highly recommend this to anyone, some of the colours I will use more then others, that's just down to personal taste, there are colours in this palette which the pigmentation is not as good as the others which I have found are the more green and brown shades.

I have tried to look for cheaper alternative dupes for this palette and initially thought that the Sleek palettes would be good contenders, but there shadows have nothing on the creaminess and pigmentation of the Urban Decay ones. I am still on the hunt for a good dupe, you will be the first to know once I have found one.

Product Rating:

4,5 Out of 5 - Only because some of the colours are not as pigmented as other and not usable for everyday wear.

What are your thoughts to this palette?

Found any good alternatives?

S xx
